Launching a new era for Atlanta’s first Life Plan community
Six decades after first opening its doors and navigating a global pandemic, Canterbury Court wanted a partner as fearless as it was to help sell out a major Independent Living expansion and a whole new healthcare neighborhood. Anstey Hodge was the perfect partner to take this on.
Tactics Used
Brand platform refinement | New website | Photoshoot | Select print advertising | Digital advertising (search + display) | Direct mail | Marketing automation | SEO
Being fearless is in the DNA at Canterbury Court. Founded in 1965 as Atlanta’s very first Life Plan community, Canterbury Court had grown from a single-tower community to one boasting three Independent Living neighborhoods plus complete healthcare services.
But in October 2021, Canterbury Court launched its most ambitious project yet. A new campuswide expansion and renovation would add a massive new Independent Living tower with the community’s most premium apartments, an entirely new home for all healthcare services, and major interior and exterior renovations throughout the campus.
Anstey Hodge was brought on board with one simple but massive task: fill all of this new capacity.

We started by getting to know who Canterbury Court is and updating the community’s brand platform. With a refined position and a modernized style to go with it, we developed a beautiful new website that would both reintroduce Canterbury Court to the marketplace and act as a hub for a multi-pronged lead generation effort.
A comprehensive and highly targeted new digital advertising campaign (search and digital) was crafted to push traffic to the website, while Search Engine Optimization, a new series of blog articles, and other new website content worked in concert to pull visitors who were searching for relevant keywords.
In summer of 2025, not only was the new Independent Living neighborhood successfully filled up, we had great success selling yet another series of new Independent Living apartments called the Signature Series, introduced in late 2024. We worked with the Canterbury Court team to close its existing wait list (which had grown stale) to introduce a high-interest, high buy-in wait list called Bloom. This allows the sales team to focus on seriously interested buyers and offer them exclusive access as inventory becomes available.
In traditional media, direct mail and several print advertising series in select magazines drove traffic to the site to learn more about the deeply updated Canterbury Court.
On the healthcare side of the community, our team at Anstey Hodge developed names for the new healthcare facility (Monarch Pavilion), as well as names for each of the neighborhoods for Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. All names were based on local plants or wildlife that can be found within Canterbury Court’s signature greenspace—Legacy Gardens.

After 60+ years serving the Atlanta community, community leadership wanted to celebrate the community’s legacy. Anstey Hodge was asked to produce a museum-style community installation telling Canterbury Court’s story and showcasing news clippings, photos, blueprints, sales materials, and more from the community’s archives. It’s a fascinating look back at the path the community has taken to where it is today.
Today, Canterbury Court is essentially at capacity in Independent Living, has a growing Bloom wait list roster, and is enjoying healthy occupancy across Monarch Pavilion. Bold moves from community leadership—as well as smart strategic guidance and effective marketing execution from Anstey Hodge—position the community for continued success in the decades to come.
