Special Vocal Performance Promoted By Anstey Hodge

Anstey Hodge was proud to be able to provide our PR services to promote an exclusive event held at The Crossings at Ironbridge in Chester, Virginia.

Kelsey Harrison, mezzo-soprano, from Charlotte, North Carolina, conducted a special performance for the residents of The Crossings at Ironbridge.  Harrison’s grandmother, Catherine Tierney, has been a resident of The Crossings at Ironbridge since 2013.  “My grandmother has attended every single recital I have ever given, that is why it is so important to me now to bring this recital to her.  She has always been my biggest fan and supporter,” Harrison said.

The program featured Robert Schumann’s famous cycle Frauenliebe und -leben and will conclude with Benjamin Britten’s Cabaret Songs.  Selections by Händel, Rossini, and Bizet were also performed by Harrison accompanied by Richmond-area pianist, Daniel Stipe.  The same program that she presented for her Master’s Recital at The New England Conservatory of Music was presented at The Crossings at Ironbridge in honor of her grandmother.

Harrison’s interest in music and the arts began when she was 11-years-old.  She credits The Choir School at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte with helping her build a strong foundation in choral singing, vocal technique, music theory, and sight-reading skills.

Kelsey recently graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she earned a Master of Music degree under acclaimed tenor, Bradley Williams.  She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of South Carolina.  Following her graduation, she moved to Germany to study under the American soprano Julie Davies at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. In addition to performing in Germany, the classically trained vocalist has showcased her talents in Canada, Great Britain, and Italy.  Since returning to the states, she has performed several ensembles with Opera Carolina, including The Magic Flute & Les pêcheurs de perles.

“I had a fantastic experience performing at The Crossings and I know the residents really enjoyed it too, especially my grandmother! This was probably the most special gift I could ever give her. Thank you again for putting together such a lovely press release for us. I have a copy of the article to cherish!”
