The Farms at Bailey Station, the mid-South’s newest LifeCare community, hosted its second exclusive event as part of the Class Acts Distinguished Speaker Series (formerly called the Red Carpet Speaker Series) on October 11, 2016. Former award-winning football coach, Tommy Bowden, served as the featured guest speaker.
Growing up in the household of legendary Florida State University football coach, Bobby Bowden, had a direct impact on his two sons and their career paths. Tommy, the eldest of the two boys, catapulted right into athletics by playing the position of wide receiver while attending West Virginia University. Much like his father, his knowledge and love of the game resulted in many additional opportunities as he served as an assistant football coach for six universities before becoming head coach at Tulane University in 1997. His most recent stint took him to Clemson University where he was a two-time ACC Coach of the Year. In 2008, Bowden retired after a nine-year career at that school. Since that time, he has been making frequent television appearances as an analyst and co-host, along with sharing his experiences as a motivational speaker across the country.
While The Farms at Bailey Station, a 37-acre site that will feature state-of-the-art housing and amenities for senior adults in Collierville, is under construction, the Class Acts Distinguished Speaker Series will be held at Ridgeway Country Club, 9800 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The sessions are specifically designed for prospective new residents of the community. “Our invitation-only event gives our guests an intimate setting where they are able to hear timely topics presented by notable national and local personalities. These speaking engagements are a sampling of the lifestyle experiences that we will continue to offer once the development reaches completion,” according to Michelle Trammell Vincent, senior vice president of Retirement Companies of America.
Bowden shared an insightful glimpse into five key attributes that he outlines in his book “Winning Character: A Proven Game Plan for Success.” He further engaged the audience by sharing his message on character and integrity.
