Lost Communities of Virginia

We’re thrilled to rollout new work for the Lost Communities of Virginia, including a new identity and driving tour guide. Thank you for working with us, and nice job to our own David Hodge and Sarah Henty Sprigings for all your hard work.

We’ve been busy working on two Lost Communities of Virginia driving tour brochures to be published 2016. The tours take you off the beaten path to discover old main streets, general stores, train depots, schools, churches, banks, post offices, farms, and remnants of industry like mills and furnaces. You’ll have the opportunity to visit local restaurants, family-owned businesses, small museums, trails, and cultural sites.

The Southside Driving Tour brochure includes back roads in Appomattox, Campbell, Charlotte, Halifax, and Pittsylvania Counties. The second brochure has not yet received its final name, but covers Carroll, Montgomery, Pulaski, and Wythe Counties. The tour routes are well-defined and appropriate for modern or antique cars and motorcycles. The brochures map the route and provide information about suggested stops.

Once completed, the brochures will be available in print at local visitor centers and online through our website. Look for more information later this year!
