Tel Hai, a nationally accredited, non-profit, continuing care retirement community located in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, has been named recipient of a 2016 Platinum Hermes Creative Award in the Publications/Magazine category.

The Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition out of the 6,200 entries received from throughout the United States and 16 other countries.

“Tel Hai Life,” a magazine created by Anstey Hodge, received the award for its excellence in quality, creativity and resourcefulness.  The magazine centers on all aspects of life at the  community and focuses on outreach efforts, social accountability, philanthropy and resident life.

Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies.

 

Nakia Shelton, a student in Radford University’s MFA in Design program recently interviewed David Hodge, a Radford alum, BFA ’83, for a final project for her Design Management course. Shelton ended up getting an “A” in the course.

The Farms at Bailey Station, the mid-South’s newest LifeCare community and an Anstey Hodge client, began hosting a sequence of special events where prospective new residents of the community receive a personal invitation to hear timely topics presented by notable national and local personalities.   “These intimate speaking engagements are designed to highlight the lifestyle experiences that will be available to residents once our new development reaches completion,” according to Michelle Trammell Vincent, senior vice president of Retirement Companies of America.

Linda Evans, a television actress best known for her roles as Audra Barkley on The Big Valley and more recently as Krystle Carrington on Dynasty, served as the first featured speaker.  During two sold out events on August 24, Evans enlighted the audiences about her personal life lessons as she has strived to age gracefully, a pivotal topic that she has included in her memoir entitled “Recipes for Life.”

Thanks to Debbie Adams at the Vinton Messenger for coming out to do a preview on the upcoming production, Into the Woods, Jr., at Mill Mountain Theatre. Her article is featured in the newspaper and online.

Our own David Hodge was a big winner of a Deschutes door prize at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) luncheon.  The rest of us are just hoping that he is going to share his winnings.

As a winner David will be one of the first to try one of the Deschutes products. We look forward to their arrival in Roanoke.

John Anstey was recently released from jail as he was able to raise enough bail as a “jailbird” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Lock-up in Salem.

John was arrested and charged with “having a big heart.” During the event, he raised more than $1,900 for the MDA.  He was recognized for exceeding the $1,000 milestone.

“I made my bail and even had our name put on the Jumbotron for being one of the top fundraisers.  Our clients, vendors, and all of you [staff] made this possible,” John said.

As part of the Lock-up event, business leaders join forces with MDA by agreeing to be “locked up” while they raise money for their “bail,” which helps kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that take away physical strength and mobility.
